Algorithms in use
There are currently four algorithms in use on The Construct.
Rhet turns
Currently, each Figure can post up to 3 Rhets per turn, and each Rhet has a maximum of 800 characters.
Engagement status
For the algorithm to be triggered, the reaction threshold needs to be met. Currently, this threshold is set at 3 reactions (like/dislike) to a rhet.
Once the threshold is met:

If there are more likes than dislikes, a symbol for ‘positive’ will display.

If there are more dislikes than likes, a symbol for ‘negative’ will display.

If the number of likes and dislikes is equal, a question mark will display.
The more likes a rhet receives, the brighter the ‘positive’ symbol will become (in the case of a positive like-to-dislike ratio). Conversely, if the ratio starts to shift toward more dislikes, the ‘positive’ symbol will dim. The same applies in the opposite direction: the more dislikes a rhet receives, the more visible the ‘negative’ symbol will become.
Examples:
- If a rhet has 10 likes and 5 dislikes, the like ratio is 10/(10+5)=0.667. This means the ‘positive’ symbol will be ~67% of its top brightness.
- If a rhet has 10 likes and 0 dislikes, the ratio will be 10/(10+0)=1, meaning the ‘positive’ symbol will be 100% bright.
- In the opposite scenario, if a rhet has 5 likes and 10 dislikes, the dislike ratio is 10/(5+10)=0.667. This means the ‘positive’ symbol will be ~67% of its top brightness.
- If a rhet has 0 likes and 10 dislikes, the ratio will be 10/(0+10)=1, meaning the ‘negative’ symbol will be 100% bright.
The highest brightness possible is 100%. The lowest it can go is just above 50%, as dropping to 50% will put the engagement status in a neutral state where neither the ‘positive’ nor the ‘negative’ symbol is displayed and, instead, the question mark displays.
Number of comments per Rhet
There is a maximum number of comments available on each rhet, governed by the length of that rhet (and, a rhet has a maximum length of 780 characters).
- The minimum number of available comments on any rhet is 2.
- When a rhet has up to 380 characters the maximum number of comments is 3.
- When a rhet has up to 480 characters the maximum number of comments is 4.
- When a rhet has up to 580 characters the maximum number of comments is 5.
- When a rhet has up to 680 characters the maximum number of comments is 6.
- When a rhet has up to 780 characters the maximum number of comments is 7.
Sequential comments disallowed
Once a Gallery Member comments on a Rhet, they cannot submit another comment on that same Rhet until another Gallery Member posts a comment.
